Trevor Malone and Carsan Wood honored as Iowa Boys State delegates sponsored by Dow City American Legion | New
Dow City American Legion Post # 444 honored their selection for the Iowa Boys State during their reunion at Brasel Hall on Tuesday night.
Trevor Malone and Carsan Wood are the high school students selected for this honor.
Malone is the son of Craig and Julie Malone and the older brother of a sister, Lauren. He will be in his final year this fall at Boyer Valley High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society and plays football and basketball. After high school, he plans to go to college to major in accounting.
Wood is the son of Chris and Julie Wood of Dow City. It is a selection inherited from Boys State; his father attended Boys State in the summer of 1989. Wood will be in his final year at Boyer Valley High School this fall. He is an athlete in four sports, participating in football, basketball, track and field and baseball. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and camping. He plans to attend trade school after high school.
The American Legion of Iowa Boys State is a one-week hands-on experience in the workings of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties, and the relation of one to another in the formation of the government of the ‘Iowa. Through Boys State’s learning-by-doing lens, delegates will learn about city, county and state government.
Managed by students elected to various offices, Boys State’s activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, groups, choirs, and recreation programs.
