Posted on June 16, 2021
The public is invited to meet with the candidates for the Lincoln Chief Constable at four separate forums beginning June 21. The public forums will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Auld Recreation Center, 1650 Memorial Drive in Antelope Park. Each candidate will make a short presentation, answer questions from the moderator and meet with residents.
The program of the forum is as follows:
- Monday June 21: Genelle Moore, Senior Investigator and Human Resources Specialist for Lincoln Public Schools and retired captain of the Lincoln Police Department
- Tuesday June 22: Teresa Ewins, Commander of the San Francisco Police Department, California
- Wednesday June 23: Darryl McSwain, Police Chief, Maryland-National Capital Park-Montgomery County Police Division
- Thursday June 24: Ramon Batista, Former Mesa, Arizona Police Chief
The presentations will be recorded and broadcast on the LNKTV YouTube channel. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on the applicants and should submit their comments by June 28 to [email protected] or by calling 402-441-7511.
A panel of community members interviewed eight applicants at the end of May. Based on the committee’s comments, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird invited the four finalists to participate in the final selection process. Once this process is complete, the mayor will select Lincoln’s next police chief, and his appointment is then subject to city council approval.
