The Fiji Times » Gavoka “luckiest political party leader”

The leader of the Liberal Social Democratic Party (SODELPA), Viliame Gavoka, says he is the luckiest of the other political party leaders in Fiji, as he enjoys the support of “three supreme leaders”.

He made the statement during the party’s annual general meeting in Sila Village, Nadroga last Saturday.

Mr Gavoka said the inclusion of Gone Marama Bale Na Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa was a bonus for the party.

“She has what you need for the party. From the beginning, I used to say that I was the luckiest party leader because I had Turaga Na Vunivalu, Tui Cakau and Marama,” he said.

“So now I have Marama and President Ratu Epenisa, so the party is getting stronger day by day.”

He added that Ro Teimumu running again under the SODELPA banner for the 2022 general elections will not change the leadership within the party.

“The management will not change. Mr. Gavoka said he was still the leader of the party.

“There is a defined path to leadership and we are a process-oriented party and that has been established and anyone coming in now will be part of the training.

“The leadership has been decided and that’s it.

“It tells you one thing that this party continues to gain strength, I just announced a memorandum of understanding with Savenaca Narube and Unity Fiji and now Marama have decided to be part of the journey.

“It brings strength to the party and I’m very happy about it.”

Mr Gavoka said there was a process for Ro Teimumu to go through to become a candidate.

“The process will be put in place and it will happen.” Meanwhile, the Soqosoqo Vaka Marama had approached vanua for Ro Teimumu to run again in the 2022 general election.

Mr. Gavoka also announced three new tentative nominees at the AGM. The trio is made up of Ratu Josua Tubunaverevakabau Uluiviti, Atonio Lavekau and Vijay Lal.
