Skeptical, cynical of political candidates

This letter follows Peggy Raddatz’s letter to the editor published February 25, “Manistee Resident: ‘It Takes A Lot Of Courage’ To Be A Candidate,” hitting Ken Grabowski’s “Politicalish” column published February 17 .

Ken Grabowski has always encouraged others to run for office, whether for school boards, city council or otherwise. When it comes to political candidates, Ken has always encouraged us to research who they are and where they come from.

So Peggy, maybe Ken is looking at a much bigger picture than you are when it comes to politics. Maybe it might be a good idea for all of us to be more skeptical and cynical about politicians, no matter what party they represent.

Of course, it takes a lot of courage to run for political office. But, it takes more courage to stand up for authenticity and honesty and to have a moral compass in their soul.

When our nation’s 45th president, Donald Trump, said he loved dictators like Putin and then acted like one. This should make all of us suspicious and skeptical of politicians. Then while we still have a politically corrupt regime in the national government that still supports the big lie and him, one wonders how low these politicians will stoop to support the most corrupt president this nation has ever had had.

The hatred, anger and words spoken by this man left five people dead on the grounds of the national capital. Let’s never forget January 6, 2021 and what happened there.

Will Rogers and Ken Grabowski were right with their political views du jour.
