Sindhi World Congress condemns brutal operation against anti-land grabbing movement in Sindh Pak

London [UK], June 16 (ANI): The World Sindhi Congress (WSC) strongly condemned the brutal operation underway against the Sindhi People’s Indigenous Rights Movement against the city of Bahria Karachi (BTK) and other land grabbing movements. land by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led the provincial government of Sindh in Pakistan.
According to a WSC statement, hundreds of Sindhi people have been arbitrarily arrested across Sindh in the past few days. These include political leaders and workers, civil society activists, human rights defenders, intellectuals, writers, poets and internally displaced populations.
“More than a dozen political parties and environmental justice groups have recently joined in the Sindhi Action Committee (SAC). The SAC called for a peaceful demonstration on June 6. Thousands of people protested against the occupation of their land, ”rights groups said.
Among those arrested are the central leaders of Jeay Sindh Quomi Mahaz, the Indigenous Rights Alliance, the Sindh United Party and Porhiyat Mazhamat (Peasant Resistance).
“During these operations, thousands of homes across Sindh were searched in the wee hours of the morning – homes were searched and ransacked, occupants pushed around and residents arbitrarily arrested. These appalling attacks were in response to the democratic struggle of a united front. Sindhi political parties against the city of Bahria and other illegal land grabbing programs covering hundreds of thousands of hectares of the most precious land of the Sindhi people by the Pakistani army, their proxies and their political friends ”, said the WSC.
The Sindhi Congress called on all political parties in Sindh, civil and human rights organizations in Sindh and Pakistan, as well as conscientious individuals to speak out against this “fascist attack” on the people of the province.
“The WSC is committed to raising these gross human rights violations with the international community, including the UN, human rights organizations and governments around the world,” he added.
As part of a plot from Karachi to Kashmore, Bahria Town, DHA City and other megaprojects were launched to convert the Sindhi people into a minority on behalf of Pakistan.
On June 7, a protest at BTK against land grabbing turned violent when fast food franchises, several vehicles, a showroom and two real estate agents’ offices were set on fire and police resorted to tear gas and rubber bullets.
The violent incident happened on Sunday after a crowd forced its way through the main gate during a SAC protest against a mega housing project. Thousands of people have arrived in the housing project from different parts of the province to organize a peaceful protest against “land grabbing”, “forced eviction of residents” and “demolition of villages” in the name of development , Dawn reported.
