On September 26, Pacquiao was sworn in as a new member of Promdi, which was relaunched as Abag-Promdi, during a kickoff at a hotel in the northern recovery area of the city of Cebu.
As a result, local officials and affiliated May 2022 election candidates running under Abag-Promdi have sealed their support for Pacquiao’s presidential candidacy.
The senator and boxing legend was sworn in before Abag-Promdi President Mimo Osmeña.
“What we need is a new kind of leadership that understands his people, follows his heart, (a) champion who will stand up for what is right,” Osmeña said in his speech.
In his acceptance speech, Pacquiao reiterated his vows to fight for the oppressed and the underprivileged, illustrating his story of rags to riches as an example.
