NRM is not in merger talks with any political party – Spokesperson

The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has warned Nigerian political parties and their presidential candidates to avoid secret alliances with anyone on behalf of the party.

According to the party, it is currently not engaged in any merger talks or alliances with any political party ahead of the 2023 general election.

In a statement signed and made available to Blueprint on Thursday, the party’s national publicity secretary, Sola Afuye, advised presidential candidates and parties to avoid secret alliances with anyone on behalf of the NRM. .

The statement read in part: “Our party is not currently engaged in any merger discussions or alliance discussions with any political party prior to the 2023 general election.

“Ahead of the 2023 general election, we remain committed and true to our party’s goals and we will never stray from our yawning precipice.

“Our concern at the moment is to galvanize, strategize and be positive to win the elections in 2023 by the grace of God.

“Moving forward, our party, the National Rescue Movement, will no longer tolerate any form of distraction from any political bigwigs.

“The NRM is still very much in the presidential race and other constituency positions that will be contested in the 2023 general election.”

While reiterating that the pre-NEC preparation of the party is underway, Afuye further noted that the party is not being deterred.

“Our membership campaign is ongoing, we have not closed shop. We are calling on the brave people of our dear nation, Nigeria at home and the Diasporas to join the relief team, National Rescue Movement (NRM) to save the situation we have found ourselves in in the country. May God help us,” the statement added.
