Leaders of Different Parties Stop En route to Lakhimpur Kheri after deadly clash | Latest Updates
Leaders of various political parties were arrested on Sunday evening on their way to UP Lakhimpur Kheri, following the deadly clash between protesting farmers and the convoy of the son of a Union minister that took place there.

Leaders of various political parties were arrested on their way to UP Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday evening, following the deadly clash between protesting farmers and the convoy of the son of a Union minister that took place there. Eight lives were killed in the clash that occurred earlier today.
UP police tweeted that the situation in Lakhimpur Kheri was under control and that an adequate deployment of forces had been made to avoid any “untoward incident”.
Here are the latest updates on the movement of political leaders to the site of the clash.
SAMAJ BAHUJAN PARTY
Satish Chandra Mishra from BSP left his home at midnight to travel to Lakhimpur Kheri. He was arrested in Lucknow and placed under house arrest.
Satish Chandra Misra, General Secretary of BSP, said: “We want to get there. [Lakhmipur]… We do not have the right to move on the grounds of disturbing public order there. We request [written] if they want to put us under house arrest.
“They [police] delivered a notice stating that our program in Lakhimpur has been suspended due to the public order situation and that no party or leader is allowed. We have decided to suspend our program and will decide on the next steps tomorrow, “he told ANI.
The convoy of Congress President Priyanka Gandhi was arrested in Lucknow. She later defied the house arrest assigned to her and continued to head to Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday evening. She reached Lakhimpur Kheri early Monday morning, according to an INC TV tweet.
BHARATIYA KISAN UNION
The convoy of BKU leader Rakesh Tikait was also arrested on its way to Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. He reached Puranpur in the district of Pilibhit.
Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan’s convoy was arrested near Khairabad in Sitapur. He was detained at the Sitapur Police Line.
Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav will leave for Lakhimpur Kheri on Monday morning.
RASHTRIYA LOK DAL
Jayant Chaudhary of the RJD will leave for Lakhimpur Kheri on Monday morning.
AAM AADMI FESTIVAL
Aam Aadmi party leader Sanjay Singh was arrested in Sitapur on his way to Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday night and Monday. He was arrested while checking vehicles in the Laharpur area of the district.
