Five new candidates are running for municipal elections – Washington Daily News
Several incumbent candidates sought re-election in the 2021 municipal elections on Friday, and a newcomer entered the list of candidates for Washington city council.
Pantego Commissioner Chuck Williams and Chad Keech, Chocowinity Commissioner Billy Albritton and Washington Park Commissioner Belinda Cowell stood for re-election on Friday. AJ Congleton became the first non-incumbent to run for Washington city council.
The filing period for all municipalities except Belhaven began on July 2 and will end at noon on July 16. Belhaven’s deposit period begins at noon on July 26 and ends at noon on August 13. A list of vacancies this year can be seen here.
All application fees are $ 10 and can be paid in cash or by personal check. General information on filing an election in North Carolina can be found here. Candidates can bring the completed forms to the Board of Elections office, or they can pick up and complete these forms at the office. Notaries are available at the office of the Election Council. Forms can be completed, notarized, and mailed to the Election Council office, but must be received by noon on June 16. The address is 1308 Highland Drive, Suite 104, Washington, NC 27889.
