The Uttar Pradesh Congress has started accepting nominations from candidates seeking tickets to the next crucial State Assembly elections. Applications will be cross-checked by presidents nyaya panchayat and gram sabha who have been appointed for this process.
Thus, Congress will not directly select candidates on the basis of this nomination form. The presidents of the Nyaya Panchayat and the Gram Sabha have been authorized to collect information on the candidates in their respective constituencies.
Local popularity and a candidate’s own image will take priority in the distribution of tickets rather than his political experience.

Siddiqui said the party appointed 50,000 nyaya panchayat and gram sabha presidents to provide information on the ticket candidates.
