Publicity of political candidates

please contact [email protected] for rates and availability.

The Swellesley Report does not endorse candidates for political office. We accept political advertising, as a business transaction, from all candidates for any office, as well as related organizations or organizations involved in ballot initiatives. We accept that they do not express the views of The Swellesley Reportbut to help defray publication costs.

The Swellesley Report recognizes that political advertising can inform voters and the fact, and our editors are committed to fairness and freedom of expression. We follow generally accepted journalistic policies and contestants in contested races are all contacted and advised of the opportunity to advertise. The rates are nominal so that the price is not an obstacle to advertising a candidate.

Any advertisement is considered political if it involves a political figure, party or government issue, whether or not an election is held.

The Swellesley Report reserves the right to accept or refuse any ad. The Swellesley Report will refuse advertisements that it knows or believes to be misleading, inaccurate, fraudulent or illegal, or that do not comply with them, in The Swellesley Reportin its sole discretion, with its standards of decency, taste or dignity. The Swellesley Report reserves the right to remove any postings for any reason, including advertisements that we deem inflammatory, defamatory or in poor taste.

Like all publishers of quality original journalism, The Swellesley Report maintains a clear separation between information and advertising content. Advertising that attempts to blur this distinction in a way that, in The Swellesley Reportjudgment alone, confuses readers will be rejected.

It is generally permissible to express disagreement or campaign against a candidate for public office, a political party or a public administration. The Swellesley Report reserves the right to request verification of claims made in political advertising. Political advertisements must not contain accusations or attacks relating to an individual’s personal life. The award and decision will be made solely by the management of The Swellesley Report.

All political advertisements must include all information required by local, state and federal laws, and the advertiser is solely responsible for compliance.

An advertiser will not be permitted to purchase all or excess inventory (ad space).
