DSS to Screen Political Party Candidates Ahead of 2023 Elections

Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services, DSS, has said it will screen candidates for public office in Cross River State ahead of next year’s general election.

This was revealed in a letter addressed to the State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Mr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, demanding that party candidates running for office in next year’s polls make themselves available for the election. selection exercise.

The letter dated June 10, 2022 bearing reference no. S. 275/1468 and signed by EC Okoye, for the Director of Cross River State reads in part:

“In accordance with the requirements that all potential candidates aspiring to stand for public office undergo a mandatory security check, I am directed to request that you inform all party candidates of the State House Of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and Governor who were successful in the recently concluded primaries to stand for the above selection exercise.

The exercise, which is to be held on June 22 and 23, 2022, will take place at the premises of the DSS office in Calabar, according to the letter.
